 On October 15-16, 2015 a scientific conference on “The Armenian Genocide-100: from the Recognition to Reparation” dedicated to the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide was held by the joint efforts of Yerevan State University and NAS RA. 

The discussions of the conference included the following issues:

- The Armenian Genocide: history, theory, memory, and geopolitics.

- The Elimination of the Consequences of the Genocide and the reparation of legal and socio-economic problems.

- The reflection of the Armenian Genocide in literature and art.

- The Cultural Genocide; a White Genocide.

The languages used in the conference were: Armenian, Russian, and English.  

In the beginning of the session “The reflection of the Armenian Genocide in art”, Ms. Lilit Yernjanyan has delivered her speech about “The Musical Relives of the Great Calamity through the works of “Alan Hovhannisi”. The lecturer talked about the works of “Komitas”, by referring him as the great model of the Armenian religious music. She also spoke about the musical instruments, such as “DUDUK”, which had become the symbol of the motherland in the Armenian diaspora. Then, Ms. Lilit Pipoyan made her speech, about the paintings of “Suren Pipoyan”.

She discussed the color tunes of his artworks, which included the shades of grey, the monochro me and the sandy gold. The motifs of the paintings were the suffering scenes of the Armenian people under the conditions of deportation. The most famous painting of all was “The departure of Komitas from Ejmiatsin”. Afterwards, Ms. Satenik Vardanyan made her speech under the title of “The Red Crossing”. This painting’s artist was “Yeghise Tadevosyan”, through which we can see the emotional and spiritual reflections of the artist. The sky was red, and the body of the Christ was green-blue.

Ms. Margarita Kalemyan was also among the lecturers, who presented “The Armenian Genocide through the eyes of the French painters”. She spoke about the mindset and psychological manifestations of diaspora artists, especially the French ones, and their reflections in the arts. After that, numerous other lecturers delivered their speech.
